- Know what data can be used to drive instruction
- See the connection between the content of the maps and the data

- Use selected data to identify areas of concern and/or excellence
- Move from general data for global understanding to specific data for driving decision making
- Triangulate data to form a more complete picture
- Make data statements then use maps to locate where instruction took place
- Identify possible areas of revision
